Updates Galore!

The end of the school year is upon us… what does this mean?
We are packing our weeks full of fun activities to keep the kids motivated to learn!
*Some already have their summer fever, can you blame them?*

This week in reading our skills were color words as adjectives, and cause and effect. Ms Thomas came up with the idea to use Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes to teach cause and effect. This was perfect for the skill. We started by filling out the sheet below, which you can click on to get your free copy.

Afterwards, we used our new color words we learned this week (see below) to write our own Pete the Cat Story via Made for First Grade.  Then of course we created Petes to go along with their stories. They turned out really cute!

Like I said earlier in my post, we learned some new color words to spice up our writing. The kids get SO into this activity. They were using words like "golden rod" and "wisteria" to describe different things throughout the day. Love it.

You can find this activity at the Inspired Apple.

Also, to go along with the adjectives we have been learning about; we used our new skill to descibe SMORES. And to my surprise most of my kids never tasted smores before. They LOVED them!
We started by using adjectives to desive a marshmellow.
*You can find this activity from Mrs. Bainbridge here
.
Then we used them to describe smores. Yum.
The kids loved eating their smores!

Afterwards. we created this little craft I saw on the first grade parade. Cute right?

In other news we are in full wedding mode… which means parties!
Here are some recent pictures from our parties.

We had so much fun! I have the best friends and family a girl could ask for! So blessed.

And speaking of that guy… he came and helped me today with this problem…

What a mess right? My new easel donated by the Coach Foundation through Adpot a Teacher came in last week and I am soooo not handy with tools/ building things. Thank you to my finace for coming today to save the day and putting this beauty together.

*Smiles* This thing means biz.
My kids thought it was Christmas today (It didn't help that he told them he was Santa? Ha!)
BIG BIG Thanks to the Coach Foundation! It means so much to my class and I!

Hope you could make it through all of these updates! Have a great weekend!

Truffula Tea on TpT

Last Friday, before our break, I decided to treat my kiddos {and Ms. Thomas and I} to a little Truffula Tea!
It was the perfect way to leave for our Spring break since we had seen "The Lorax" the previous day.

The littles loved the movie!

Anyways, on to our "Truffulla Tea"…
We created this little treat, to go along with a writing activity I had planned for my class.

How cute is the Truffula Tea? Love.

My kiddos completed a writing activity for "How To Make Truffula Tea". My littles were not allowed to dig in until they were finished with their writings!
But I am pretty sure it was worth it! They loved it :)
Check out my TeachersPayTeachers Store if you would like to purchase this little writing activity!

The Bandit Y & St. Patricks Day Pictures...

Next week we are on Spring Break! I am so excited to enjoy my week off and catch up on some things I have been meaning to get around to completing.  I am also am planning on having a sale at my TPT store today and tomorrow! So if there is something you have been wanting to purchase check out my site for an additional %15 off :)

Click below to be directed to my store:

Last week we learned about the y that sounds like an "e" or "i".
I purchased Leslie Ann's packed about the "Bandit Y"
I then created this poem to go along with our new friend.

We also created our Humpty Dumpty word sorts as well. My students were really into brainstorming new words! I may just have to do this for each sound!

Here is also our cute little craft from Cara with leprechauns. The kids loved this writing/ craft activity.

And below are some St. Patty's day update pictures! We rode in the parade again this year. It is TRULY my favorite day of the year in this city!
And, yes I am rocking a sequin Irish flag fanny pack. Be jealous. I would wear a fanny pack more if I knew it was acceptable.

Me and my boo at the parade! We always find each other.

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather and time of year! I am off to enjoy my last day before our break!

Inferencing Activities

I may have had to clean out my purse before beginning this activity. No matter HOW organized I am… somehow my purse is always a failure of organization. I am CONSTANTLY digging through the black hole to find my keys. Super annoying.

However, when I saw this activity from Abby I knew my kids would love it too.

Recording sheet inspired by Leslie Ann.
Am I a sassy bride or what? And how cute are my students inferences?

Another activity I found on blogs for inferencing was from Cara Carroll. We used the book "David Gets in Trouble", which is perfect for inferencing. I intended to use the book "No David" like Cara used, however when I could not find that one I did a lil' quick change to this book.  This book works well too!

Thanks girls for the inspiration! Made my life a little easier when planning :)
